Club Director Rodrigo Suelotto
Originally from Brazil, Rodrigo's passion for volleyball began when he was a young child watching his parents and siblings play. He played from ages 10 to 17 for a few clubs and then for another four years for Santana University as a setter. After graduating, he played in Spain for one season while earning a Master's Degree in Physical Education and Health.
Back in Brazil, Rodrigo was the Assistant Coach and Strength Coach for a professional team called Pinheiros from 2010 to 2016. Their best achievement was winning the gold medal at the Brazil Cup in 2015. Additionally, he served as the Head Coach for São Paulo University - FEA for one year.
Rodrigo’s journey in the US began in June 2016 with his first job as a volunteer assistant coach at SDSU. After one season, he was hired to coach at COAST Volleyball Club, where he won several big tournaments such as Red Rock Rave – Las Vegas and JVA West Coast Cup. Besides coaching at COAST, Rodrigo has been the Girls Volleyball Program Director and Varsity Team Head Coach at Francis Parker since 2022.
Rodrigo launched NOVO Volleyball in May 2024 with the purpose of developing and empowering the next generation of volleyball players, both on and off the court.
Training Coordinator Nilay Karaağaç
Nilay Karaağaç is an elite volleyball setter with a remarkable 23-year professional career. She has earned multiple prestigious titles, including three gold medals in the CEV Champions League and FIVB Women’s Club World Championship, as well as additional honors in European and World competitions.
In 2022, Nilay retired from professional play and moved to San Diego with her family. She began her coaching career at Francis Parker High School, where she led the team to a CIF Division 1 championship, and now also coaches at COAST Volleyball Club.
Her extensive international experience and dedication to developing young athletes define her coaching philosophy.
Coach Anne Marie Taylor
Originally from Los Angeles, Anne Marie played both indoor and beach volleyball at Loyola Marymount University. She continued to play during one year of Grad School at Florida International University (FIU) Beach Volleyball.
Prior to NOVO, she was the JV Volleyball Head Coach & Head Beach Volleyball Coach at Francis Parker. In addition, she has also coached indoor and beach and Cypress College & Notre Dame High School Sherman Oaks. Her coaching philosophy is to help athletes learn how to play to their fullest potential while learning how to be the best teammate they can be.
After her collegiate career, she earned her AAA beach rating 3x with CBVA & has competed in AVP Qualifiers.
Coach Rachel Bruno
Rachel Bruno is a Francis Parker volleyball coach, where she graduated from their volleyball program in 2016. She went on to play Division II volleyball in college at Bentley University in Massachusetts where she was a Team Captain and two-time second-team All-Northeast-10 and Academic All-Northeast-10 honoree. Rachel was a Head Coach for two years at Dallas Athletics before relocating back to San Diego.
